Dental implants are used to replace a tooth or set or teeth by inserting a metal screw or fixture into the jaw, which then acts as an anchor for a new false tooth.
Over time the metal screw bonds with the jaw bone and creates a very strong, long-lasting support for the prosthetic tooth.
Dental implants help to preserve the bone and prevent further bone or gum deterioration. This is because the implant helps to replace a portion of the tooth root, which adds support to the jaw.
The treatment (right) shows the before and after of a single dental implant placed by Dr Anthony Puljich.
Before: Patient presented with a missing tooth on the upper and wanted to have this gap filled.
After: A single dental implant was placed in the area. After a 3-months healing period a porcelain implant crown was fixed into place to replace the missing tooth and complete the patient’s smile.
